Front and back cover of The Book Seller at the End of the World by Ruth Shaw which I was delighted to work on for Allen & Unwin. I got to do some bonus endpapers too, such a treat. This design was one I put forward in addition to working up concepts from their scamps, was delighted how it turned out. I didn’t know they were going to use my handwriting, that was just there as placeholder, was quite a surprise when my copy turned up!
Front and back cover of Under a Big Sky by Tim Saunders and chapter spot illustrations. Another cover for the lovely Allen & Unwin, this one they wanted in a woodcut/linocut style, I’ve done a few lino and wood cuts in my time and sort of majored in printmaking at art school so even though this isn’t actually a print I was very much working in a print style, laying down tone then cutting back (erasing) back into it and having the green colour from the blue tone sitting on the yellow.
Bookshop Dogs, another wonderful book by Ruth Shaw. It was go great to return to the world of Ruth Shaw, and for the chance to draw lots of fun dogs
